The ESNA has been asked to help Katrina Victims
   
 

The East Spring Street Neighborhood Association has been asked to help in collecting and/or getting the word out where donations are being accepted for Katrina Victims that are coming to our city!

The City of New Albany is offering 100 public housing units to Katrina victims expected to be processed through the Louisville, Ky processing center this Friday.

Monthly Meeting
   
 

The newly appointed Code Enforcement Officer will be at the August meeting.  Please plan to attend.  We would like as many as possible to be there to meet Pam Badger and to welcome her as the new enforcement officer.

Remember........ESNA Monthly Meeting will be on August 25th at 7:00 p.m. at Muir Manor (corner of 13th Street and East Spring Street).  
Remember the meeting time was changed after suggestions from various members. 
Also, membership dues are due.  Please look under donations for amount due!





New Neighborhood Benches
   
  If you get a chance today or tomorrow drive along Elm, Market and Spring Streets to take a look at the new benches being installed. The East Spring Neighborhood Association applied for a grant from the Caesars Foundation of Floyd County and received the funds as a part of our neighborhood revitalization and beautification project. The benches were installed by the Street Department. Tell us what you think!




County Council to Vote on Scribner Place Project
   
  The County Council will vote tomorrow (7/12/05) at 4:00 p.m. on funding for the Scribner Place Project. I know that many of us will be at work, but we need as many members of the ESNA as possible to turn out in support of this project and to speak to the County Council.  If you can not make the meeting tomorrow afternoon, please call the following County Council members ask them to vote in favor for 1/2 of the needed funding for this project!

City Council Meeting
   
  City Council Meeting

July 7th, 7:30 P.M.

The New Albany City Council will have the 2nd and 3rd reading to establish a salary for the Ordinance Enforcement Officer (A-05-13 To Amend Ordinance A-04-56 An Ordinance Setting Salaries.) The agenda is found at the following site: http://newalbany.in.gov/Clerk/City%20Council/ . This is next to the last step in getting this person hired! It VERY important that we turn out in large numbers to show our support because we have worked so hard getting to this point! The last step is getting this person interviewed, hired and working ASAP. So, The ESNA is asking for everyone to show up, with your ESNA shirts on, to show that we are still here and we need to get this APPROVED!! Also, another important topic of the evening will be the
R-05-17 Resolution Pledging EDIT Monies Towards Scribner Place. Again, this is a very important issue for many people. Show up people and get involved!

This is a VERY Important evening and we need everyone there!




June Meeting
   
 

East Spring Street Neighborhood Association will host an evening meeting for the Board of Public Works and Safety.  

Where: Calumet Club, 1614 East Spring Street
When:  June 29th (This will replace our June 30th meeting)
Time:  6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m

This meeting is very important and open to the public!  If you have concerns or problems that need to be addressed this is a wonderful opportunity to speak with members of the board.





Meeting with Steve Price
   
 

Steve Price has agreed to meet with the East Spring Street Neighborhood Association at the monthly meeting of the S. Ellen Jones Neighborhood Association. (Tuesday, May 17th, 6:30 p.m., S Ellen Jones School located at 600 East 11th Street). This will be two days before the City Council meeting (May 19th). Please bring questions and concerns to ask your councilman!

Upcoming Events in Your Neighborhood
   
  Dates have been finalized for the neighborhood yard sale as well as the neighborhood cleanup.  The cleanup will take place on April 30th.  Flyers will be passed out on April 16th, for which volunteers will be meeting at the residence of Greg Roberts @ 10:00am.  The yard sale will take place June 4th, at Triple A on 3rd and Market.  Check the events page for more information.

Code Enforcement Officer Commitment
   
  The mayor and city council members at last nights City Council Meeting (3/17/05) reaffirmed their commitment to hiring a Code Enforcement Officer.  We, ESNA, was also encouraged to get together a last of problem areas in our neighborhood and send or present them to Build Commissioner, Board of Works, and the to the Mayor for action!  I need everyone to send a list of problem areas to me, Greg Roberts @ greg.roberts@eastspringstreet.org or to Mark @ mark.sanders@eastspringstreet.org.
